GOMSHALL CHAPEL
Welcome to Gomsall URC.
I was saddened that I was not able to conduct my usual summer service at Dorking URC last June - yet, at the same time, I was gladdened that my second cataract operation had been completed. Indeed, the world is now a much brighter and more colourful place and everything is in such wonderfully sharp focus: this surely should be a parable of growing understanding and stronger faith in Our Lord and His Son.
We welcomed our friends from Bookham to a joint service in Chapel at the beginning of August and completed our study of the psalms at the same time. "Bright Hour" recommences again on the third Wednesday of the month at 2. 30 p.m. with a talk by Shirley Kellet entitled "Travel" (which sounds intriguing) and this will be followed on October 21 by a quiz presented by our dear friend, Margaret Bellingham. Do join us if you are able.
There are two further dates for your diary: 4 p.m. on Saturday, 3rd October for Harvest Tea, to be followed on the Sunday by our Harvest Celebration, with a Fellowship Lunch afterwards at the "Compasses". Just let Evelyn know if you are coming to the latter so that she can make an estimate of numbers.
This autumn we shall study the parables of Matthew's Gospel and we trust that the series will bring new insights into the teaching of Jesus and that our eyes may be opened afresh, just as my own eyes have been through the recent cataract operations. Our love to you all ,
David Beard
