Worship and Discipleship

Sunday Worship

10:30am Morning Worship – in the Church followed by refreshments in the Main Hall.  All-Age Worship takes place on the third Sunday of each month with the whole church family worshipping together for the entire service.  On other Sundays children and young people leave the service after 20 minutes for their own activities:

Creche for babies & toddlers meets in the Roy Currie Room (also available during All-Age Worship)

Young Church for 3-11 year olds meets in the Main Hall

QUEST is a group for young people aged 11 to 18 to explore faith through informal discussion, fun activities and a variety of challenges and projects.  It meets in the Upper Room at least twice a month during Sunday morning worship (generally the 2nd and 4th Sundays) and at other times for special events and outings.  On the Sundays that Quest does not meet, this age group join the rest of the church family for All-Age Worship or participate in wider Young Church activities where they are encouraged to help lead and nurture the younger children.  You can find out more about Quest here:

Life Groups

Life Groups are the focus for discipleship in small groups at Dorking URC.  There are an increasing number meeting on different days and times, generally twice per month.  They aim to follow a similar pattern of ‘Welcome, Worship, Word, and Witness’ but do so in a variety of ways and using different material to suit their members.  They are intended to grow and divide regularly and have up to 12 members.

‘Seekers’ and Discussion Sessions

Dorking URC periodically hold sessions aimed at anyone interested in exploring the Christian Faith.  These seek to create an informal environment with absolutely no pressure for any ongoing commitment or to speak in front of the group; it is fine to simply come, listen, and ask any questions.  Over recent years these have been based around material from ‘Christianity Explored’ the ‘Emmaus Course’ and a series of six evenings based around the tv series ‘Broken’ which featured Sean Bean as a Catholic priest wrestling with his own faith whilst trying to minister to a parish in deprived inner city parish in contemporary Britain.

Other Discussion Sessions take place from time to time in a variety of ways, using film, speakers and other media, complimenting Life Group activity by offering a larger open forum.

Please ask if you would like to know more about any of these activities using the ‘Contact Us’ page on this website.
